Settings for Language Matters EU Email Accounts: Apple Mail, iPhone, Gmail, Outlook, Thunderbird

Below are the instructions for setting up your email with your '*name*@language-matters.eu' email address. The most common systems are described but if you have a different one, please email support or raise a ticket above at https://cliv.es .

Its not always straightforward and Microsoft Outlook are notorious for blocking sub accounts on their systems. If you do get any errors, please contact LIGENT support or raise a ticket above.

You can also check your emails by visiting webmail.language-matters.eu and entering your email address and password.

Install With Apple Mail

  1. Go to Mail and open up the Preferences box.
  2. Click the + icon in the bottom left and click Other Mail Account at the bottom.
  3. Select Mail Account and click continue.
  4. Add your name, full email address and password. Be extra careful to use the full email (*name*@language-matters.eu) and case-sensitive password. Click Sign In.
  5. Extra fields will show up and you’ll be met with an error message – don’t fret.
    • Under email address enter your full email address.
    • Enter your full email address as your username.
    • Under Account Type select IMAP.
    • Under Incoming Mail Server write mail.language-matters.eu
    • Under Outgoing Mail Server write mail.language-matters.eu
  6. Not long now! Back to the toolbar, click Mail, then Preferences, and highlight your newly created email address.
  7. Under Advanced go to IMAP Path Prefix and type INBOX.

Keep your fingers crossed and send some test emails. Reply to them, and reply again.

It looks like jargon, but once it’s over you needn’t worry about mailing through Apple.

Install With iPhone

Below are instructions for setting language-matters.eu emails on your iPhone. Before you begin, make sure you copy your secure password so that it can be pasted whenever needed!

  1. Go to Settings > Mail.
  2. Go to Accounts > Add Account > Other
  3. Click Add Mail Account > Add your name, your new email address and paste your password. Click Sign In.
  4. For Incoming Mail Server
    • Host Name: mail.language-matters.eu
    • Username: your new email address
    • Password: paste your password
  5. For Outgoing Mail Server
    • Host Name: mail.language-matters.eu
    • Username: your new email address
    • Password: paste your password

Click Save and wait for it to verify.

Install With Gmail

  1. Open your Gmail account and go to settings. This is the little gear icon on the right hand side just above your inbox.
  2. Click settings and along the top click the fourth tab ‘Accounts and Import’.
    Scroll down for ‘Check email from other accounts:’ and click ‘Add an email account.
  3. A box will appear where you enter your email address '*name*@language-matters.eu'. Click Next.
  4. Click Next on the following page. (Import emails from my other account (POP3))
  5. On the next page enter add the following:
    • Username: *name*@language-matters.eu
    • Password: Your password
    • POP Server: mail.language-matters.eu
    • Port:995
    • Tick the box Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail.
    • Click Add Account
  6. Make sure Yes, I want to be able to send mail as *name*@language-matters.eu is ticked and click Next
  7. Enter your full name and tick the Treat as an alias box. Click Next
  8. On the next page enter add the following:
    • SMTP Server: mail.language-matters.eu
    • Username: *name*@language-matters.eu
    • Password: Your password
    • Port:465
    • Tick the box Secure connection, using SSL (recommended)
    • Click Add Account
  9. Wait for a few minutes and you should receive and email with a confirmation link that you can click and everything is done. Or enter the code from the email into the box and click Verify.

What now? When you click Compose, you can select your new email address from the dropdown menu. You can then set the address to default by returning to Settings and navigating to Send Mail As.

Install With Microsoft Outlook

If you are using Microsoft Outlook, the setup is fairly straightforward:

  1. Go to Settings > Connected Accounts
  2. In Add a connected account click other email accounts
  3. Enter your username (*name*@language-matters.eu) and password, then click save.
  4. Go back to Settings > Connected Accounts, select your new account and click the edit symbol to go into advanced settings
  5. Fill in your username and password where asked
  6. Under Server information add the following
    • Incoming server: mail.language-matters.eu
    • Incoming port: 993
    • Authentification: Basic
    • Encryption: SSL
    • Outgoing server:mail.language-matters.eu
    • Outgoing port: 465

Click save and go! Next, wait for MS to import all your settings from the mailbox. An extra folder with your new email address should appear in your inbox. Now you can send and receive Language Matters EU emails using Microsoft Outlook.

Install With Thunderbird

  1. Go to File, New and Existing Mail Account
  2. Type your display name, email address and password. Click continue and be taken to the screen.
  3. Thunderbird will look up the mail provider. Once it has finished, click manual config and enter the following information.
    • For Incoming, select mail.language-matters.eu as the sever name, 993 as the Port, SSL/TLS in the dropdown and Autodetect for Authentication.
    • For Outgoing (SMTP), once again type mail.language-matters.eu as the server name, 465 as the Port, SSL/TLS in the dropdown and Autodetect for Authentication.
    • Usernames for both incoming and outgoing should be your email address.
